New Visa certified contactless card

Perfect Plastic Printing and Inside Contactless have jointly produced a new PVC contactless plastic card, which has received Visa certification for contactless monetary transactions. The new card contains a MicroPass 4003 chip and an antenna with an innovative design specifically designed for this product, also from Inside Contactless. This product, which had a one-year design period, has the same aesthetic appearance as plastic cards covered with the foil normally used for credit cards, but without its contraindications.

The foil is in fact a glossy cover, which gives the paper a pleasant mirror effect, but which being metallic in nature, heavily affected the antenna's performance, reducing the transmission capacities which are instead fundamental in contactless transactions; the problem was that up to now this effect has not been reproduced by printing alone. "The challenge in this project has been to find a cover foil that has enough metal component to make it look good but not enough to interfere with the radio signal," commented Matt Smoczynski, vice president of marketing for Perfect Plastic Printing. "To achieve this we worked together with the designers of Inside Contactless, to create a product that is beautiful to look at and absolutely performing."

The proof of the success of this product came from the Visa payWave certification, which guarantees the usability of this card in contactless payment circuits.
